CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS – 2ND ANNUAL STUDENT IOT DESIGN COMPETITIONThe IoT Design Competition is an exciting and prestigious contest in which undergraduate and graduate students will compete in either software or hardware categories to target a specific real-world application. The competition is hosted by the University of Florida IoT Students Club and sponsored by Texas Instruments and the Warren B. Nelms Institute. The registration deadline is June 12th. The competition phase will last until September 2022. |

The answer posed by Dr. Bhunia, Ph.D., director of Warren B. Nelms Institute for the Connected World and Semmoto Endowed Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), and Dr. Ray, Ph.D., Endowed IoT Term Professor in ECE, seemed an impossibility, or at least a misnomer: ‘patchable hardware.’ But the breakthrough may actually be what the industry was waiting for. |

Dr. Antonenko Receives nsf grant to develop curriculum to teach computing hardware fundamentalsPasha Antonenko, an associate professor of educational technology and director of the NeurAL Lab, was recently awarded a $600,000 grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to design gamified curriculum to teach computing hardware fundamentals. This collaborative grant also includes Mary Jo Koroly, research associate professor, and Swarup Bhunia, Semmoto endowed professor, at the University of Florida. |

Prabuddha chakraborty wins first place in semifinals, advances to finals in doctoral thesis competitionPrabuddha Chakraborty, a PhD student in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Florida, has won first place in the semifinals of TTTC’s E. J. McCluskey Best Doctoral Thesis Award at IEEE VLSI Test Symposium 2022 (VTS 22). Chakraborty will now advance to the finals round of the competition, which will take place at the International Test Conference (ITC) 2022 in September. |

The students saw and participated in hands-on demos and short tutorials by eight Nelms Institute Graduate Students. |

Recruiting for UF GenCyber Summer CampWe are pleased to launch the first GenCyber Summer Camp for security training of high school students at University of Florida (UF). For this camp, we are looking for six UF undergraduate students to help with UF GenCyber Summer Camp activities. This is a paid opportunity for about 50 total hours over a two week period from July 11th – July 22nd, 2022. It is preferred that candidates have a basic understanding of hardware security/cybersecurity. Candidates will mainly help to facilitate team activities in virtual break out rooms Monday-Thursday, and provide help for on-campus activities on Fridays.
