BIO

Dr. Mary Jo Koroly is a Research Associate Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in the College of Medicine and the Director of the University of Florida Center for Precollegiate Education and Training (UF CPET) in Academic Affairs. Dr. Koroly’s research interests are in the areas of cell regulation, membrane biochemistry, and science education. Prior to joining UF, she obtained her Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Bryn Mawr College, completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Minnesota, and served on the faculty at Harvard Medical School and Bryn Mawr College. At UF, she directed the Medical School Biochemistry course for 22 years and was the founding director for the Interdisciplinary Center for Biotechnology Research Education and Training Core. Her major strengths and passion center around collaborating with researchers across campus and educators across Florida to design, implement, assess, and leverage programs that are interdisciplinary, collaborative, broadly impactful, and that facilitate lifelong learning by offering unique opportunities and challenges that inspire personal and professional growth of students (secondary school through graduate school) and their teachers and mentors.
