Tianjun Wang Receives ECE Undergraduate Student Research Excellence Award

Electrical Engineering undergraduate student Tianjun Wang is the recipient of the 2025 ECE Undergraduate Student Research Excellence award. The award is given yearly to an ECE undergraduate student who has excelled in their research during the academic year. The award recognizes students’ dedication, enthusiasm, and promise as an undergraduate researcher in the ECE department. Students are nominated by their faculty advisor.

Tianjun has conducted research under the mentorship of Dr. Swarup Bhunia since Summer 2024. His current research interests lie in food and medicine security and wearable and implantable systems.

“I work on multi-model spectroscopy. Currently, I am trying to make a coating for fruit and vegetables that is detectable by NQR (Nuclear Quadrupole Resonance), which lets us tag the vegetable without being tampered with and also improves their shelf life,” Tianjun said.

Tianjun expects to complete his bachelor’s degree in Fall 2025 and continue working with Dr. Bhunia as a PhD student.
